Update your online profiles in the professional networks and use a professional photo. Profiles on LinkedIn and Xing are specially designed for professional purposes. Here it is possible to show your career and your skills and to have them confirmed by colleagues, supervisors and previous employers. That strengthens your own reputation. At first it may feel strange to ask other people for a reference. But have courage! In addition, the platforms make it possible to build up a large network and thus also to transfer knowledge.


YOUR APPLICATION

To submit your application, review our current online job vacancies. If you are interested in a position, click on the "Apply Now" button to submit your application via our website. Then you would have to: - Set up your applicant account or log into your existing account - fill in the form online and - Upload your CV and any other documents. In order to ensure optimal processing of applications, we only accept online applications. 

Expect about 15-20 minutes for your online application for an online job offer or an internship.

Here are a few tips on how to present yourself as a brand:  1. Unique position: Think about what abilities and skills you have. What makes you special, what makes you special? Are you a career changer? Do you know different industries? Do you have a special career or an intensive training period? You can highlight the points that result from the answers to these questions in your application. In this way, the others get to know you better and thus also recognize your individual value as a person.  2. Confirmation: Have your skills confirmed by colleagues, supervisors, previous employers, etc. B. very easily via social media channels such as LinkedIn or Xing, but also via letters of reference. Don't be afraid to approach people directly and ask for a reference.  3. Credibility: Make your appearance understandable and clear and, above all, be yourself. Your appearance must match what you want to embody. So ask yourself how you want to position yourself? What is important to you? how do you want to be seen and do you also show that to the outside world?  4. Relevance: Deal with topics and content that are relevant to you and your professional project and, above all, to the possible position you are applying for.

THE INTERVIEW

At Michelin, too, some job interviews no longer take place on site, but by telephone or video call. The advantage of personal talks is that you can get to know each other directly with all your senses and you can usually "inspect" the work environment and colleagues yourself. Sympathy is easier to develop through gestures and facial expressions. But digital interviews also have advantages. Digital Conversations Digital conversations have their pros and cons. 85% of successful communication takes place via non-verbal channels, creates sympathy and allows barriers to shrink. This non-verbal quality is missing in digital calls – even more so on the phone than in video calls. However, certain gestures and facial expressions can also be disadvantageous: Excessive nervousness, too many gestures and facial expressions or constant tapping of the feet. telephone interviews Telephone interviews have the disadvantage that you cannot see each other and can only score points based on content and voice. The preparation of the content is therefore crucial.

However, the advantage for the applicant can be that you can prepare possible documents or notes and thus use them as a guide during the interview. video telephony In contrast to the telephone interview, the video call has the advantage that you can see each other and can therefore work better with facial expressions and gestures. The prerequisite for this is a stable internet connection, a good camera, sufficient light and good sound quality. With digital formats, the following must be observed... speak loud and clear.

  • Ensure a quiet environment and good sound (not on a balcony, hall or similar place)

  • Make calls using headphones or directly on the handset.

  • Don't use speakers! Have a laugh. Even if you can't see it on the phone, you can hear it.

  • Position yourself and your camera so that you can be seen well lit. If there is a window or daylight in the background, your counterpart will only see you against the light, i.e. in poor quality.

  • Your camera background should be as neutral as possible. But at least clean and tidy.

  • Ensure that there are no distractions (e.g. people walking through the picture, etc.)

  • Practice the conversation in advance with friends/family and test the ambient noise in advance. Since non-verbal communication is restricted by the digital form, content-related points may be weighted even more heavily. Be aware of this and prepare yourself intensively for it.

Here you will find a few tips that always apply - whether on site, on the phone or in a video call. 


1. Use your soft skills The ability to communicate is essential in every job these days. Be open, friendly and willing to talk. But always act within the framework of professionalism. Don't talk too much, too loud, and try to say clearly what you want to say. Adjust your language/choice of words according to the situation. (Job, location, hierarchical level, etc.) Establish a friendly relationship with your counterpart. Maintain eye contact if possible, but please do not stare. Show yourself expressively (facial expression, handshake, etc.). • Listen carefully, observe and ask questions/queries. This is the only way that Michelin's needs and yours can be properly understood. Show ability to learn and take criticism. Feel free to take notes during the conversation.   2. Ask questions This is very important, because it underlines your interest and also you as a person. You care about the job, our company, but also about your own interests. A good question e.g. B. is the question of what the person enjoys most about their job. On the one hand there is a positive atmosphere in the conversation, which is attributed to the questioner, on the other hand you get to know the positive sides of Michelin right away.   3. Know your resume With telephone or video call interviews, you have the advantage of being able to lay them out in front of you. Think about questions in advance that could be asked regarding the CV and professional work and think about precise answers to them. Tell success stories about yourself and have sentences ready for the individual stations of your career. It's not about systematically repeating your resume. Support strengths and competencies with concrete examples or stories.   4. Gaps in the CVGaps in the CV are often discussed controversially. Especially in the past, they were considered an absolute no-go and had to be meticulously avoided. Nowadays, on the other hand, they are sometimes welcome at companies, including Michelin. They make you and your CV exciting and reveal a lot about you. There are often stories behind them from which a lot can be learned. If you have gaps in your CV, deal with them openly and honestly. Tell your story behind it, what you learned from it and what you can use from it for the future. Even admitting that you needed a break because sometimes things don't go as planned in life shows honesty, humanity and the ability to reflect.   5. Surprising questionNo problem. This is a good moment to reveal something about his personality. Stay calm and focused. It's okay to say that you need a moment to think about the fact that you've never been asked a question like this or been in a situation like this before. That shows common sense. Show humor and that you can make clever excuses. This also reveals something about your personality and shows that you are flexible and open to new things.   6. Gestures & facial expressions Don't overdo it, but don't give up either. Gestures and facial expressions are also recognizable in the voice. Therefore, even with a telephone conversation, it matters. Some people feel better standing or walking to make important phone calls. That is also possible. In addition, gestures can also be used for video calls - just make sure that it doesn't look too exaggerated.   7. Practice makes perfect It can be worth practicing interviews with friends and family beforehand. Especially if you haven't had any job interviews for a long time. Of course, it's a pity if an interview didn't result in an acceptance, but try to see it as an "exercise". It is also possible to politely ask the HR department why it didn’t work out and whether they have any tips. The maximum answer is no or no answer. You have nothing to lose. However, if you get feedback, you have a lot to gain.   8. Lack of Qualifications Are you missing a degree, further training or another skill? This can be an obstacle, but it doesn't have to be. Nowadays, in addition to qualifications, personality and development opportunities count just as much as degrees. Take the chance to convince us with your personality, character and individuality.   9.
