The Opportunity

As an Area Operations Manager, you will guarantee and drive the collective performance of the workshop to achieve meaningful performance goals in safety, machine availability, quality, delivery and cost established with the Plant Management Team. You will manage and mentor up to 50 union and non union wage direct reports as well as have responsibility for meeting safety, quality and delivery targets within the workshop.

Furthermore, the position will be part of a development program with a goal of positioning the new leader to rapidly gain experience and grow quickly within the organization. We are expecting this new passionate leader to gain experience and promote into higher level operations roles within the American Synthetic Rubber Team, as well as be poised to take on additional responsibilities within the Michelin network.

What You Will Do:

Lead a team of up to 50 direct reports with supporting staff in a manufacturing facility in a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation
Monitor and manage daily performance and set mid/long term direction in line with company objectives
Demonstrate the ability to be an inspiring, trusted leader who gets results through the empowerment of their team
Establish and lead the cost control budget of the Team
Mentor team and promote employee development and work responsibilities
Demonstrate passion for continuous improvement in safety, production, compliance, maintenance, housekeeping, employee development/mentorship
Provide team communication on company, plant, and department business plan objectives and performance

What You Will Bring:

Demonstrated leadership presence, maturity and natural curiosity
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence others positively and have difficult conversations when needed.
A BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is or equivalent is required.
Have at least 3 to 6 years of management responsibility in a complex manufacturing environment. Experience in a petro chemical environment is a plus.
The commitment to learn, with a humble approach to self development.
Outstanding judgment and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Analytical problem-solving skills with an impeccable attention to detail
The ability to lead change and influence the Team to embrace change when necessary
Be geographically mobile to Louisville, Kentucky for the first assignment. Future geographic mobility is a plus but not required.
