Position title: Senior AI / Data Scientist (F/M)

Team & role description

DXD is a global digital “forge” of MICHELIN Group, with mission to ignite innovation and craft digital platforms that create value for our customers & businesses. Its 450-people, cross-disciplinary team is distributed across France and India (Lyon, Clermont, Paris, Pune) with 3 main domains, each of which entrusted to a “digital factory”: 1/ digital experience (web, mobile & conversational); 2/ geospatial & mobility services; 3/ data & market intelligence (a.k.a. ”DMINT”).

Within DXD, the latter “DMINT” digital factory (3) is a 140-people team that operates an in-house platform at the crossroads of the Group business data (tyre/automotive market referentials, prices, sell-in & sell-out, consumer analytics and other market watch “signals” that we collect from all over the regions and businesses where MICHELIN operates. Their mission is to derive insights out of these data, in order to recommend business-critical, strategic moves (pricing changes, product portfolio management, marketing campaigns, etc.) and monitor their impact. This team leverages a large range of modern, digital and AI technologies, with aim to create business value from the market data they collect.

The Senior AI / Data Scientist will play a significant role in working on proof of concepts and supervising deployment of data science and AI / Data Science models, tools and features. The Senior AI / Data scientist will report to the DMINT AI Lead as his deputy.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and understand business requirements within DMINT and its customers       
    The Senior AI / Data Scientist will work closely with internal DMINT teams and external clients to thoroughly identify, analyze, and understand business requirements. By engaging with stakeholders, the role ensures that all AI and data science solutions are aligned with organizational goals and customer needs. This involves translating complex business challenges into clear, actionable analytics objectives and project plans, ensuring all initiatives deliver tangible value and measurable outcomes.
     
  • Design, develop and implement AI / Data Science prototypes (incl. Data ingestion, EDA, Feature engineering, Model selection, training and validation, Development)
    The Senior AI / Data Scientist is responsible for the full lifecycle of AI and data science solution development—from initial concept to prototype. This includes collecting and ingesting data from various sources, performing exploratory data analysis (EDA), crafting and engineering relevant features, and selecting the most suitable models for the task. The role also covers model training, validation, and iterative improvement to ensure robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions that can be transitioned into production environments.
     
  • Manage end-to-end AI / Data Science projects with DMINT stakeholders, customers and partners
    Managing data science projects from inception to completion is a core responsibility of this role. The Senior AI / Data Scientist will coordinate and communicate effectively with DMINT stakeholders, customers, and partners throughout the project lifecycle. This involves project planning, timeline management, progress reporting, and proactive risk identification and mitigation. The aim is to deliver high-quality, timely, and impactful AI solutions while fostering collaboration and transparency across all parties involved.
     
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in AI, machine learning, and data analytics
    Continuous learning and professional development are essential aspects of this role. The Senior AI / Data Scientist is expected to stay up to date with the latest advancements, trends, and tools in AI, machine learning, and data analytics. By keeping abreast of new developments, the Senior AI / Data Scientist ensures that DMINT can leverage innovative methods and best practices to maintain a competitive edge and deliver state-of-the-art solutions to customers.
     
  • Upskill / Train DMINT colleagues on AI / Data Science Tools
    Knowledge sharing and capacity building within the organization are key to fostering a culture of data-driven decision making. The Senior AI / Data Scientist will design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and resources to upskill DMINT colleagues on various AI and data science tools and methodologies. This responsibility supports broader organizational growth, empowers team members, and helps democratize data science capabilities across DMINT.

  • Applied Machine Learning & Generative AI
    Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying machine learning and generative AI solutions for practical, real-world problems.
     
  • Resourcefulness and Experimentation
    Demonstrates adaptability and initiative; comfortable testing new ideas, prototyping quickly, and finding creative solutions even in ambiguous situations.
     
  • Willingness to Learn and Teach
    Eager to continuously learn new tools and techniques, and able to clearly explain complex topics to colleagues or clients in simple, accessible language.
     

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
  • Experience of 5 years in AI / Data Science
  • Strong programming skills in Python, or similar languages for data analysis and Machine Learning
  • Practical experience using Large Language Models (LLMs) for natural language processing tasks, prototyping, or enhancing business workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
